EU Online Gambling Vote Coming Soon
There has been a lot of discussion and some disagreement amongst members of the European Parliament regarding the question of online gambling legislation. There are different opinions as to whether the European Union member states should continue to legislate their own online gambling, or whether Internet gambling in the EU should be regulated and legislated by the European Commission. A few months ago, in March, Jürgen Creutzmann, a liberal member of the European Parliament from Germany, issued a Green Paper regarding the issue of European online gambling legislation. Creutzmann supports closer cooperation of EU states with regards to Internet gambling legislation, however, he does not feel that there has to be single law for all Internet gambling. Jürgen Creutzmann had the following to say: “Member states alone are not in a position to regulate all areas of Internet gambling. Much expanded cooperation between national regulatory bodies is therefore essential.” There have already been many responses to the Green Paper regarding the relevant issues about the European Union’s online gambling legislation. A vote will be taking place on 19th September 2011. If there is agreement on how the decision regarding online gambling should be worded, there will be another vote taking place on 12th October 2011. This second vote will then ratify the European Union’s online gambling legislation. There are, however, very strong arguments on both sides of the issue of online gambling regulation for the European Union member states. There are those that feel the industry need not be regulated by the European Commission, and others who feel that there should be serious restrictions imposed on players, including online gambling limits, warning messages, and more. Still others believe that each member state should be allowed to control its own online gambling legislation. College Football Rankings Released: No Change In The Top Five
The latest college football polls have been released, and although they do not mean much at this point in the season, fans everywhere are always happy to see where their team is ranked. The Oklahoma Sooners and their fan base can rejoice in the fact that they are yet again the number one team in both major polls. The top five teams in the country are the same in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Poll. Oklahoma is followed by Alabama, LSU, Boise State, and Florida State. All of the teams except the Seminoles received first place votes in the AP Poll, and Oklahoma, Alabama, and LSU received first place votes in the USA Today Poll. One thing is certain after seeing the results of the latest polls, the top five will not remain intact another week. The top ranked Sooners travel to Tallahassee next Saturday for a showdown with the resurgent Seminoles. FSU is looking to prove that they once again belong on a national stage. The first two weeks of the season has seen the Seminoles and Sooners demolish much lesser opponents. The two teams will now have to deal with getting ready for an opponent that is their equal. Last year, the Sooners steamrolled the Seminoles in Oklahoma, but that was a much different FSU team than the one the Sooners will face on Saturday.Spots six through ten is where the two polls begin to differ. The AP Poll has Stanford at six, Wisconsin seven, Oklahoma State eighth, and Texas A&M and Nebraska nine and ten. The USA Today Poll also has Stanford sixth, but has the Cowboys seventh, followed by Wisconsin at eight. Nine and ten are the same.Ohio State remains in the top twenty despite having to deal with several suspensions from the tattoo scandal fallout. The Buckeyes travel down to South Florida next weekend to face the Miami Hurricanes, another team that has had to deal with suspensions in the early part of the new season. Miami will be getting many of their starters back in time for the Ohio State game. September 11, 2011Posted By Vincent Tapoglia IIIStaff Editor, CasinoGamblingWeb.comSubmit News!
Don’t Gamble at Night
Ever notice a pattern of big loss during playing poker or blackjack at night? Scientists have noticed this and are probing why gamblers lose big time during the night. Their first culprit was lack of sleep. Now gamblers have become favorable subjects for sleep research to prove if really it is sleep. Some players may have noticed making unsound decisions during a night of gaming. They never realized it until the game is far over. They could perceive a bad hand as worthy of a raise only to lose the bet later on. Such phenomenon might also be perceptive by those gambling online. Exhaustion will upset one’s thinking. Experts say that not having enough sleep makes one prone to accidents. History is witness of such statements with the accident at Chernobyl for example which happened, you guessed it, at night. For gamblers that means accidentally raising the bet without thorough thinking. For those online, it could be as simple as clicking for the wrong virtual poker room. In an experiment to test the result of sleep deprivation on decision-making two types of gambler were pitted against each other. One group was comprised of gamblers who barely had rest and the other who rested well enough and refreshed. The result of the study revealed that when sleep is cut short, gamblers go into jeopardous, high-paying options. By studying further the brains of these gamblers with scanners (MRI), a certain part of the brain becomes more active compared to those seen in well-rested subjects. The scientists added that one’s adeptness to learn from past mistakes is arrested. Losing does not take its toll until later when one’s mind clears. The gambler is not deeply involved with the bad consequences in holding risky cards. That makes matters worse. When such learning is arrested, the brain is only pushing for high stakes and is gambling and not folding even in cases of a bad hand. One’s brain becomes only focused on the gains and not the reality of one’s hand. This muddled thinking is similar to those experiencing insomnia that wake up in the middle of the night confused. The good thing is that these gamblers are choosing decks that are of great advantage to them. And so the scientists are now advising gamblers to carry watches or be conscious of the time so as to rest after hours and hours of play. Most importantly just don’t neglect how important sleep is to a gambler. This sleep study on gamblers has shed a new light on the perils of playing when tired.
